In the ongoing Test series against Australia, Sri Lanka has got the team. Two were already infected. This time Dimuth Karunaratne’s team has been caught by the virus again. Three Sri Lankan cricketers have been positive. They are Dhananjaya de Silva, Asitha Fernando and Jeffrey Vanderse. In a statement, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board, SLC confirmed the matter.
This time three Sri Lankan cricketers have been attacked. According to the SLC, each of them underwent covid test due to feeling ill. No one will be able to play the second and final Test of the series against Australia as it is positive. Currently everyone is in isolation in their respective rooms. The rest are healthy, said the team management.
Angelo Mathews was the first to attack Corona in the Test series
The veteran cricketer and former captain was sub-out on the third day of the first match in a white suit after the report came back positive. The hosts are hopeful of getting Mathews in the last Test after recovering.
Left-arm spinner Praveen Jayabikrama became the second cricketer to test positive in the Coved Test. That is why Sri Lanka is not getting this 23-year-old cricketer in the last Test. The two teams will meet in the series-determining match at the Gaul International Cricket Stadium tomorrow.
In the second Test, there will be multiple changes in the Sri Lankan team, it goes without saying. Oshad Fernando was Mathews’ coward in the first Test. This right-handed batsman is more likely to get a place in the XI of the second match instead of Dhananjay. Mahesh Thikshana and 19-year-old Dunith Welelag could make their debuts. Asitha replaced by right-arm medium fast bowler Kasun Rajitha.
