Karim Benzema Scores Hat-Trick to Defeat Celta Vigo 5-2

Karim Benzema netted a hat-trick and new signing Eduardo Camavinga also scored as Real Madrid defeated Celta Vigo 5-2 in La Liga on Sunday.

Benzema opened the scoring for the hosts in the ninth minute before netting his second with a penalty 10 minutes into the second half. The France international completed his treble from close range five minutes later, with substitute Camavinga’s first goal for Los Blancos making it 4-0 in the 71st minute.

Celta pulled two back through Maxi Gomez and Iago Aspas but were unable to complete an unlikely comeback at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

Benzema’s first goal of the game had come after he was bought down by Gustavo Cabral in the penalty area, with the referee pointing to the spot despite some slight contact between player and ball. The forward made no mistake from 12 yards as he sent goalkeeper Sergio Alvarez the wrong way.

Real Madrid were 2-0 up 10 minutes into the second half when Benzema received a pass from Isco on his chest before dispatching a right-footed shot past Alvarez at his near post.

The former Lyon forward completed the scoring with another powerful shot, this time firing low across goal after being picked out by substitute Dani Ceballos’ pinpoint crossfield pass.
