Britney Spears has been in the news a lot lately, and not for her music. Britney’s conservatorship is coming to an end on March 18th, but it appears she doesn’t want to be released from the control of her family. In a recent deposition, Spears told attorneys “I’m tired of my family telling me what I can and cannot do. I
m tired of the lawyers and I want to do what I want to do.
Spears’ team was quick to release a public statement Britney loves her family and appreciates all they’ve done for her. She wants her independence and she is looking forward to launching her new album, Britney Jean. That’s why we are disappointed Britney chose to file this Petition.
However, Spears’ family has released a statement of their own, through their attorneys. The Spears family is concerned about the current state of Ms. Spears. They are in Las Vegas and remain willing and eager to do whatever is necessary to ensure that in the near future she will continue her career and performing, and that Ms. Spears will be financially secure for the rest of her life.
We agree with Ms. Spears’ attorneys that her medical care needs to be improved. Her family has cared deeply about Ms. Spears since this entire conservatorship began, when she was unable to help herself in January 2008 when Ms. Spears entered treatment. The family is very pleased that Ms. Spears appears to be happy, healthy and doing well. However, the only way for this matter to be truly resolved will be for Ms. Spears to agree to continue under a court-approved conservatorship until she regains her full faculties, or until another order is entered by the Court appointing another suitable person as conservator.
Although this case has taken much too long, the family will continue to work to ensure that Ms. Spears is provided with all of the things a person in her position needs and deserves. Most importantly that includes ensuring that she gets back on track with her music career and life.
The petition which Spears’ filed was to appoint an independent lawyer as conservator. The court has not yet responded to the petition, but it will more than likely be denied, since Spears’ family is willing and able to provide her with everything she needs.
There’s no telling what will happen once Spears’ conservatorship ends on March 18th. She could continue with her life as it is now, or she could take up an independent life which includes more focus on her career. Only time will tell what happens with the troubled pop-princess. If you’re looking for more news on the star, keep in mind that Britney Spears’ Las Vegas show is currently in its second year. The Crazy Monkeys production features all of Spears’ biggest hits and most memorable dance moves.
The 2-year extension her show was just signed means she’ll continue to be performing in Vegas until December 31, 2015. If you can’t make it to Vegas for her show (and even if you can), the next best thing is the Britney Spears Las Vegas slot machine .
